Top 10 Broadband Awards 2009 nominees revealed

Top 10 Broadband AwardsThe nominees for the annually Top 10 Broadband Awards, being held for the second time now, have been unveiled with 3, Virgin Media and O2 leading the nominations with 4 a piece.

The Top 10 Broadband Awards are based on ratings of more than 1.5 million customers as well as speed tests carried out during the last year by Top 10 Broadband, the most popular independent site for comparison of broadband prices, thereby making it the most valued customer awards in the industry.

The awards ceremony will be conducted in the 24 Club, a cutting – edge venue located in Soho, Central London in September the 15th. Nominees will lock horns in 11 categories, including fastest service, innovation, best value and customer satisfaction.

The panel which made the nominations observed the detailed speed test as well as the customer rating data, nearly thousands of customer reviews left on the website and put all the packages of broadband providers to the most strict quantitative and qualitative test in order to come up with the nominations.

O2, 3 and Virgin Media are in the front in nominations and have been short – listed in 4 main categories. O2, TalkTalk, T-Mobile, BT and Vodafone have 3 nominations each.

Virgin and Vodafone declared fastest broadband providers

Virgin MediaDuring the second annual Top 10 Broadband Awards, both Virgin Media and Vodafone were among the broadband internet service providers given the highest citations.

Apart from ranking among the top ten, Virgin Media was also awarded as the Broadband Innovation Prize for its 50Mb product. Vodafone on the other hand was cited to have the Best Rated Mobile Broadband as it topped in popularity ratings of customers.

The Top 10 Broadband Awards were based on the 1.5 million customer ratings and over 400,000 speed tests on the award-giving body’s official website.

Cinching the Best Value Home Broadband citation was Plusnet, a considerably small ISP that offers value package with more-than-sufficient speed for much affordable cost. Other internet service providers who were awarded were 02 for its Best Rated Home Broadband, and the Best Value Mobile Broadband was awarded to 3 for its market-topping dongle which currently offers the low-cost £15 per month for usage of 15GB.

It was an awards night to remember for TalkTalk as well as they walked away with the Best Broadband and Phone. Talktalk’s essential package paved way for the said citation they got.

On the other hand, the Best Broadband and TV award was won by Sky, beating their strongest competition in the category, Virgin Media and BT.

With all these diverse direction of the awards, director of Top 10 Broadband Alex Buttle said the London ceremony was not dominated by a single broadband internet provider. Buttle continued to say that the past year bore witness to the major shifts in the broadband industry.

The Top 10 Broadband director saw this distribution of citations as a sign that most UK residents and subscribers, including businesses, are getting more reliable choices for broadband connections. Buttle closed his statement saying the awards ceremony solidifies the strong competition within the broadband market this year.

Top 10 Broadband Awards to be hosted by Spencer Kelly

Spencer KellySpencer Kelly, who is the presenter of the Click show, one of the most highly rated technology shows in the country, has been given the privilege of being the host for the annual Top 10 Broadband Awards, which is being held for the second time now, said Top 10 Broadband.

The former Gadget Show presenter, who is also a TV tech guru, has obtained exclusive and prestigious interviews from a number of popular personalities, which include gaming guru Will Wright as well as Bill Gates. Therefore, Top 10 Broadband express their honour in announcing that Spencer Kelly has been appointed as the compere for this ceremony and will also participate in a light – hearted sideways look at the broadband industry and how it has developed over the past year or so.
